Pollies beware – Jono and Dano launch new lobby group to fight for Aussie families!

28 Jul 2010

mcm media’s ‘The Jono & Dano Show’ has launched one of its biggest ever promotional campaigns, including a strong social media component, to further engage and grow its audiences – all with the help of the humble schnitzel!

Responding to specially commissioned surveys that showed Australians are spending less and less time around the dinner table in real conversation, the team have created a campaign around the launch of a new political lobby group called Bring Back The Schnitz.

“These guys know how to talk to Australians and when they learned about the lack of quality family time, along with all the other everyday stresses, they decided to do something – and what better dish than the classic schnitzel to bring people together,” said mcm media CEO Simon Joyce.

The group will nag, harass and prod our pollies into paying attention to the importance of communication within Australian families and hope to build a groundswell of opinion to make Tuesday nights declared the official Schnitzel Night across the country.

A “Give Schnitz a Chance” online video clip also launched this week, with Jono and Dano transformed into Yoko Ono and John Lennon respectively singing to the tune of Lennon’s “Give Peace a Chance”.

Peter Garrett joined The Jono & Dano Show this week to praise the schnitzel campaign while Aussie icons Kylie Minogue and Molly Meldrum have recorded video messages pledging their support.

The Bring Back the Schnitz campaign is proudly supported by New Idea which will be featuring the best schnitzel recipes and calling on their readers to join the cause.

ARN Group Director of Sales, Paul Parker said: “ARN’s Classic Hits network is 100% behind the Bring Back the Schnitz lobby group. It’s a very worthy cause and who better to take this issue to the nation’s leaders than our Drive time radio stars, Jono and Dano.”

The campaign is created, directed and produced in conjunction with creative collective 3rdspace. Aside from social media, it will also feature online and on air advertising, and public relations activity.
