Kyle & Jackie O join Australia’s biggest music countdown - Radio duo host Take 40 Australia® from this weekend

18 Jan 2010

Australia’s biggest chart show just got bigger! Announced today, Kyle and Jackie O have been appointed as the official new hosts of the nation’s favourite music countdown, ‘Take 40 Australia’®.

From this weekend, Take 40 will feature Australia’s biggest breakfast duo at a new time of 3pm (EDST) every Saturday afternoon.

Produced by mcm media, the legendary Take 40 radio show is Australia’s first and longest running national countdown, airing on Austereo’s Today Network and a broad network of regional stations across the country.

Take 40 is the largest syndicated radio program in the country, with over one million listeners tuning in each week.

Always focused on the biggest and best of pop culture, the star-studded four hour show boasts superstar guests, VIP access to A-lister events such as the Grammys and ARIA Awards, money-can’t-buy listener giveaways and most importantly the hottest 40 singles of the week. The new team up with radio’s hottest duo is a marriage made in celebrity heaven.

Kyle Sandilands says: “I grew up listening to Take 40… there are so many big stars that have been interviewed on the show over the years so we’ll be continuing that tradition. It’s an iconic show and now it’s ours!"

Take 40 is one of Australia’s largest and most innovative music and entertainment brands, with reach across multiple media platforms. The brand encompasses its flagship weekly national radio show; a top rating music website (www.take40.com); a live television concert series (Take 40 Live Lounge) and highly regarded live events like Take 40 Live (recent concerts featured performances by Wolfmother and Powderfinger).

“Kyle and Jackie O live and breathe music and star culture, so to get them onboard as the new hosts of our famous music countdown signals a very exciting evolution of the Take 40 brand” said Simon Joyce, CEO of mcm media.

Marking a milestone for Take 40 in 2010, Kyle and Jackie O are only the third official hosts of the show in its 26 year history. After almost 20 years, radio legend Barry Bissell passed the mic to Andrew Günsberg in 2004. Günsberg relocated to LA last year to take up his new role as host of the mcm program ‘The Hot Hits Live from LA’.

“The weekend programming for the Today Network just keeps on getting better. Now our A-team are hosting Take 40 on Saturday, our listeners will have even more access to the most popular music and the greatest stars,” said Craig Bruce, National Content Operations Manager for Austereo.

The first show with the new hosts is jam-packed with stars – including Rihanna, her ex Chris Brown, The Black Eyed Peas and Katy Perry. Listeners will also have the chance to win a meet and greet with chart star Kelly Clarkson at her upcoming Sydney concert.

From today, listeners can visit www.take40.com and watch Kyle and Jackie talking about their new gig, plus check out all the latest guest interviews and competitions.

Take 40 Australia® with Kyle and Jackie O will air every Saturday at 3pm (EDST) on 2Day FM in Sydney, FOX FM in Melbourne, B105 in Brisbane SA FM in Adelaide and 92.9 in Perth, plus 80 regional stations across Australia.
