JOHN MAYER SHINES - Superstar singer / songwriter delivers one of the most memorable evenings ever experienced at KIA SOUL Live At The Chapel
5 Nov 2009
Seven-time Grammy Award winning artist John Mayer mesmerised fans last night as he took to the stage for a sensational live set at the fourth Kia Soul Live At The Chapel at Paddington’s Uniting Church.
In the inimitable style that has secured him an all-encompassing fan base, Mayer unveiled six smoking tracks from his fourth studio album, Battle Studies ahead of its worldwide release, the first time he has showcased these songs live with his new band line up. The album’s first single ‘Who Says” was greeted with the kind of unrestrained adoration that only a performance in the intimate Chapel setting could garner, Mayer’s guitar skills highlighting why he is regarded as one of the world’s finest musicians. Much loved songs “Gravity” and “Waiting On The World To Change” sat perfectly alongside an incredible cover of “Crossroads” and the new tracks from Battle Studies.
Mayer has described Battle Studies as a “heartbreak handbook”, explaining that it showcases “a lot of the lessons, a lot of the observations, and a little bit of advice”.
mcm media Chief Executive, Mr. Simon Joyce, was effusive in his praise saying “Wow – what a performer! John is an amazing musician, who held the crowd in the palm of his hand from beginning to end. It was one of those truly exceptional nights that people will be talking about for years to come”.
Fans can catch John Mayer at Kia Soul Live At The Chapel when it airs on the Seven Network on Sunday 29th November at 11am and Channel [V] on Saturday 2nd January from 5pm.
Kia Soul Live At The Chapel has staged four very special gigs this year, kicking off with superstar Lady Gaga, followed by an amazing full band set from Jessica Mauboy, electrifying rock band The All-American Rejects in August and last night’s mind blowing set from John Mayer. There will be one final Live At The Chapel gig this year before the series takes a well-earned Christmas break.
