The Jono & Dano Show Driving Australia into 2010; mcm media and ARN celebrate drive time success with renewed contract
18 Oct 2009
Recognising the success of the show to date, mcm media and the Australian Radio Network (ARN) have renewed contracts, officially confirming ‘The Jono & Dano Show’ for 2010.
Since reuniting earlier this year, Jono & Dano have proven that their formula of cheeky stories, good times and great classic hits works, making a promising first year position for the show in the FM drive time market targeting over 30 years.
With over 500,000 listeners now tuning in every week day, the show has also attracted an increasing number of broadcasters. ‘The Jono & Dano Show’ network has grown by 44 per cent, to 36 stations nationwide.
“The Jono & Dano Show has made an impressive start, attracting big names, loyal listeners, and a growing network of stations. We’re delighted to continue our partnership with ARN and Macquarie Southern Cross Media, and with next year confirmed, we’re focussed on growing the reach and success of the show even further,” said Simon Joyce, CEO of mcm media.
From launching on Australia Day, the radio duo has hit the ground running. Highlights include interviews and performances from Australian and international stars, such as Annie Lennox, Tim Finn, Liza Minelli, Suzi Quatro, Ricky Gervais, John Fogerty, Alice Cooper, Stephen Fry and Vince Vaughan, to name but a few.
As well as offering impressive listener giveaways, such as a trip to Abbey Road in the UK, Jono & Dano have tapped into big events, such as hosting the ARIA Hall of Fame Awards 2009.
ARN's Group Director of Sales, Paul Parker said the iconic status of the duo helped increase listener loyalty to the show. "These guys go back 20 odd years together, it’s a fantastic fit with the Classic Hits audience. Their quirky stories of family and life in general are clearly resonating with our listeners. It's a win for us on a number of fronts...a compelling drive program for our audience and an environment that creates real cut through and engagement for our advertisers.”
Recognising its extensive reach on prime time radio and family appeal, the show has also proven a popular choice for advertisers such as Hewlett Packard, Subaru, and IGA.
“For advertisers, The Jono & Dano Show offers a family friendly media environment targeting the 30 to 54 age group. As well as a strong brand, the scale of the network ensures significant audience coverage,” said Joyce.
Last night, the duo hosted an exclusive event for stakeholders at premier Walsh Bay venue, Simmer on the Bay, where mcm media and ARN gave away a brand new car to celebrate the show’s continued success.
Driving into 2010, the remainder of 2009 will see Jono & Dano interview Chris Isaak, Harry Connick Jr and a host of other big name guests, ensuring even more fun and entertainment.
‘The Jono & Dano Show’ is on-air Monday to Friday, 4pm to 7pm on WSFM (Sydney) and GOLD 104 (Melbourne), 5pm to 8pm on 4KQ (Brisbane), and 7pm to 10pm on Mix 102.3 (Adelaide), as well as on 32 regional stations, including many across the Macquarie Southern Cross network.
