11 Jun 2009
12 May 2009 - The Take 40 Live Lounge returned last night, featuring a scorching performance from Aussie superstar Wes Carr, who showcased tracks from his debut album THE WAY THE WORLD LOOKS, including the single FEELS LIKE WOAH.
Take 40 Live Lounge is a music lover’s nirvana – providing 100 lucky winners with the exclusive opportunity to hang in the Live Lounge and witness an intimate performance from some of the biggest names in music, both Australian and international. Previous guests have included the likes of The Veronicas, Maroon 5, Kaiser Chiefs, Mika, Kelly Clarkson and Good Charlotte (this archived footage currently features on take40.com), and as articulated by Wes Carr last night, provides an opportunity for artists to interact with their fans in an intimate and meaningful manner. “I was blown away by how well the Lounge functions; the fact that fans can gather around you and actually feel like they are part of something special, it’s the ultimate experience for a performer and the audience”, Carr said. “The studio itself provides awesome sound and production too”.
Take 40 host Andrew G welcomed the return of the series, saying "The Take 40 Live Lounge is something I''m so proud of, a chance for not only fans to see their heroes up close but also for bands to perform in a superb studio, with brilliant sound and a great crew. Everyone who is a part of it, be it band, crew or fans all come together to make a great show."
This year, the series is being produced in support of the Federal Government’s Don’t Turn A Night Out Into A Nightmare campaign, designed to communicate an anti-binge drinking message to the public. With an average of one in four Australians dying each week due to alcohol related injuries, the campaign is designed to keep the message top of mind amongst young Australians.
Wes Carr’s performance will air on Network Ten on Sunday 24th May at 11.30am, presented by Video Hits, and following this, will stream on take40.com accompanied by all the behind the scenes action and photos from the event. Take40, hosted by Andrew G, is broadcast on 96 radio stations nationally, including 2DAY in Sydney, Melbourne’s FOX, Brisbane’s B105, SAFM in Adelaide and 92.9 in Perth.
Take 40 Live Lounge will roll out gradually for the rest of the year, with Short Stack confirmed to perform on June 25. Short Stack is fast emerging as the hottest young band in Australia, their music a blend of many genres including punk, glam and indie. They are the biggest band in Australia on You Tube, were broken through Myspace, and have created their own self-filmed episodes of Short Stack TV. Organisers expect to see an extraordinary demand when the competition to win tickets to their Live Lounge performance launches on Monday 18th May. Fresh from the release of their new album and top 5 single “Hey Boys And Girls”, Evermore follows Short Stack for their performance on July 20.
Fans can win tickets to Take 40 Live Lounge during the year via take40.com, and also through Video Hits, Austereo’s Hot 30 Countdown and Girlfriend Magazine.
