KIA SOUL Live At The Chapel returns in 2009 - Lady Gaga confirmed as first performer in new series
1 Apr 2009
Next month one of Australia’s most revered live music properties, KIA SOUL Live At The Chapel, returns to our screens and airwaves.
mcm media is delighted to unveil KIA SOUL as the program’s new sponsor. This vehicle, with its unique style and attitude, is the perfect partner to Live At The Chapel, a series that has built a reputation over the years as Australia’s premiere live music show – one that showcases the world’s finest music acts in an exclusive, intimate environment. With only two hundred guests in attendance at any one show, it’s an opportunity for fans to mix it with the biggest names in music.
The announcement of superstar Lady Gaga as first live performer of the 2009 series is a further coup – the diminutive performer currently enjoying global success, including two consecutive number one singles on the Australian ARIA singles chart. “Just Dance” hit number one and remained top 3 for eight weeks and “Poker Face” notched up an incredible eight weeks at number one, whilst the album “The Fame” is already certified double platinum and has enjoyed top 5 chart success.
Another exciting element in the new-look KIA SOUL Live At The Chapel is the move from the series’ historical home of Melbourne, into Sydney. This significant shift will see the live event held in Sydney’s Uniting Church, Paddington, a working church set to provide the perfect backdrop - an intimate environment in which fans will be able to engage with their favourite artists.
Joining KIA SOUL in bringing Live At The Chapel to music lovers again this year are promotional partners including the Seven Network, News Limited, WHO Magazine and Channel [V].
Commenting on the revamped KIA SOUL Live At The Chapel, mcm media Chief Executive, Mr Simon Joyce, said “Live At The Chapel has always been one of our most iconic brands, largely because it never stands still. This year we’re changing it up again – we’ve finally given in to Sydney’s demand for some of the live music action, and we’re excited to be working with an expanded list of media partners. Best of all, we’re very pleased to have Kia Soul on board as the new sponsor. Kia has a very innovative marketing approach for the release of the ‘Soul’, and the fit with our pioneering music brand is perfect”.
KIA Marketing Manager, Steve Watt, said “The all-new Kia Soul’s sponsorship of Australia’s Live At The Chapel just made sense. The new Kia Soul is Australia’s first mass market customisable car. It’s designed to allow style leaders from all walks of life to create their own version of the Soul and what better way to connect with them than through Australia’s most innovative concert series. We are very happy to be a part of this exciting event.”
Live At The Chapel has showcased performances from some of the world’s biggest music acts over the 6 years since its inception, from Foo Fighters to Delta Goodrem, Live to Sneaky Sound System, Fuel to Neil Finn, Coldplay to Good Charlotte, Wolfmother to Midnight Oil. A further 4 shows will make up the 2009 series, to be scheduled between June and December.
