A strong finish to the year for all mcm radio programs

6 Dec 2007

The last metro radio survey results of the year demonstrate the strength and breadth of mcm entertainment’s radio properties, with share increases across the entire program catalogue. These results contribute to mcm’s consistently high national reach figures.

The Hot Hits® on the Today network continued its success with an increased audience share in Adelaide and Melbourne and a new number one ranking in Perth where The Hot Hits attracts a greater share of the audience than Mix 94.5FM who typically dominates the local market. The Hot Hits is also ranked No.1 in it’s timeslot in Melbourne. Nationally, The Hot Hits reaches approximately 1.5 million listeners per week*. Above all, the excellent final year results pay testament to the power of a fully syndicated, truly national radio program.

Take 40 Australia®, which also commands a national weekly audience of over 1.5 million*, increased its share in Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth. Take 40 Australia is the No.1 FM program in Melbourne in its timeslot for the second survey in a row.

American Top 40, hosted by Ryan Seacrest, enjoyed share increases in all 5 main capital cities including a huge 5.1% share increase in Adelaide for all people 10+ and a 12.2% increase among the target demographic – all people 18 to 39yrs. American Top 40 performed particularly well in both Melbourne and Perth where the program attracted the largest share of the FM audience in the Sunday evening timeslot.

Four hours of quality dance music on a Saturday night is proving to be increasingly popular with listeners; Loaded® is ranked number one in its timeslot in Sydney, Perth and Adelaide amongst FM stations. This is the 3rd share increase in a row in Adelaide.

Listener loyalty among the over 25s continues to climb, with very promising results for The Jonathan Coleman Experience, My Generation® and Planet Rock®. The Jonathan Coleman Experience gained audience share in both Sydney and Melbourne for all people 10+ and among the target, all people 25 to 54yrs. The program now ranks second overall in Sydney.

My Generation increased its share in 4 out of the 5 main capital cities and performed particularly well against the target demographic, ranking No.1 among all people 25 to 54yrs in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

Despite a share decrease for Triple M in Brisbane across the weekend, the new look Planet Rock program with host Jimmy Barnes increased its share 1.6%. Planet Rock also gained 12.5% in Brisbane among the target demographic, all people 30 to 44yrs.
